Lang’ata is a suburb of Nairobi in Kenya, lying south west of the city centre and east of Karen. The suburb consists of many smaller housing estates, referred to simply as estates, including Nairobi Dam estate, Southlands, Jambo estate etc.. These estates are primarily maisonettes or apartment blocks.
Lang’ata has several attractions such as the Giraffe Centre, the Uhuru (freedom) gardens, and a tourist village Bomas of Kenya. Lang’ata also has the world famous Carnivore Restaurant and adjoining Carnivore grounds, where many concerts are hosted. Wilson Airport, the largest private airport in Kenya, can also be found in Lang’ata. Lang’ata also has a gate to the Nairobi National Park.
Lang’ata is also name of the Langata Constituency, which covers affluent estates Karen and Lang’ata, but numerically most its voters come from Kibera, the largest slum in Kenya. The MP of Lang’ata is Raila Odinga, a powerful politician in Kenya.

Security in Langata is relatively safe during the day from 7:00am to 7:00pm. During the evenings the security situation has provd a bit tricky with a number of reportd car jackings and muggings especially in the recent past.

Langata – Housing comprises of three, two and single bedrooms with rent ranging from Ksh 25,000, Ksh 18,000 to Ksh 12,000 respectively. Servant quarters and bed-sitters go for approximately Ksh 7,000.
Kibera – Housing comprises of thre, two and single bedrooms which range from Ksh 15,000, Ksh 10,000 and Ksh8,000 respectively. Some single bedrooms at Karanja Estate go for Ksh 2,000 per month
